Support for Google Chrome

Reported by Francois Botha | September 3rd, 2008 @ 09:06 PM

Google is also doing their bit to push up the web.

This library should support Google Chrome too :)

    • State changed from “new” to “invalid”

Chrome automatically updates in the background while you use it so there's no need to support it.

Many people, like me, are behind a very strict corporate firewall which disallows URLs for auto-updating.

I'll have to download the latest version of Chrome manually from home, take it the work and install it there. A pushupthweb reminder would've been nice though.

Oh, and you support Firefox, even though it auto-updates (for same major version) and gives a reminder (for people still on v2)?

Firefox doesn't auto update, people can choose not to be reminded. For example there are still people using 2.0.0.11.

Chrome doesn't have an update message, as I've mentioned it updates in the background so I don't need to remind them. For people like you behind a strict firewall an upgrade message wouldn't help, since you have to download it at home anyways, the problem there is the firewall.

Geez dude... you've obviously made up your mind.

My problem is this: With Chrome auto-updating, I will never when there is a new version available. My home version auto-updates without notifying me. My work version will never auto-update. This is my currently problem with Google Talk too.

So I was hoping pushuptheweb would solve my problem by reminding me. Then I could manually download it at home at take it to work.

    You really are stubborn, hey?

Stubborn? Try to understand my reasoning. Your problem is with the firewall at work. Pushup doesn't have to throw reminder messages for you when the update itself it not possible.

Again, supporting Chrome is not required because it will auto update. Notifying to upgrade when the upgrade itself is not possible because of a firewall doesn't realy make sense. Chrome is fine as it is.
